Life and Blog update!

Hi everyone, you would have noticed that I do these life and blog updates. It's just to tell you what's going on and that I haven't disappeared or anything.

School life... meh:
At the moment I'm very busy in school and that's always the main reason why there's an irregular pattern of new posts. School is something that I am finding very hard at the moment because of certain tension and previous events, but i'm trying to ignore the hate and try and learn.

New project:
I'm excited to tell you guys that I have new fashion illustration projects coming up, the first will be the ''Fashion Week series'' which is a collection of illustrations inspired by London and New York Fashion week. My birthday (March 24th) is coming up and I hope to get my copics on that day so this collection should be extra special!

New illustrations

Hi guys, i'm super happy to show you guys my new illustrations! The inspiration for these two illustrations below was FSketcher and Tom Ford. I used Promarkers, 0.1 fineliners, Faber Castell classic colour and polychromos and White and Gold gel pen. Overall they took about 2 hours each to do... very time consuming but I love how they both came out.

Au Revoir!

Hi.

This is a general hi post guys, how are my readers? I haven't been posting of late - been super busy but I plan on posting a tutorial soon so you guys can look forward to that :). I'd like to thank everyone who reads my blog because together you've made my blog reach 16K views which is amazing and I can't thank you hard enough. I'm thinking of doing a giveaway around 50-75K and I've decided to start my YouTube channel when my blog hits 20K views.

Thanks for being lovely my lovelies.
Song of the day is - Fuse ODG ft Killbeatz - thinkin about you.

QOTD - What's your favourite colour?

New to fashion illustration?

The big wide world of art, specifically fashion art can be incredibly intimidating at first. You've got all these professionals who know what they're doing and then you, who haven't a clue what your doing. It's okay to be confused. Especially when you don't know what your doing.

Some tips:

  • Don't see the professionals as enemies, see them as role models and learn techniques from them.
  • You don't need the designer materials to create good art however you are more respected in the fashion art world if you do have them.
  • It's perfectly okay to follow and watch tutorials and learn new things, however once you have try and use the techniques to create your own style of artwork.
  • Don't always think that you have to be 100% original, maybe you like the latest Elie Saab dress - copy the bow, or the way the skirt folds but don't make it a look a like.
  • It will not always go right the first time, art is trial and error. You will come across a lot of drawings that you think are terrible. Keep them, when you improve it'll be nice to look back on these and ask yourself how you moved forward.
The basic beginner materials
  • Paper
  • Colouring pens/Pencils
  • An eraser
  • The internet
If you ask me these are very easy to get hold of!

If your finding it hard at the beginning you can always watch tutorials, get help online or even contact me :)

Youtube, to do or not to do...

Who tagged/nominated me?
  • Izzy! - Check her blog out please its awesome and I love her x
Pick one: Beauty/Lifestyle or fashion?
  • It's only recently I've started going on about beauty so I prefer to talk about fashion, just because the topics never run out and there is always something you can fall back on.
Who is your blogging bestie?
  • My blogging bestie is Izzy, I have to give it to her because she's one of the first bloggers I ever did any sort of collaboration with and I'm very confident and relaxed when talking to her. I think she's a great and friendly person who is very nice to talk to. She's also someone who you don't always have to stick to the blogging topics, I can talk about my general life and anything else. Thanks for being an awesome friend Izzy.
Who is your favourite blogger with under 200 followers?
  • I have two, so bear with me. I have to absolutely say that I love Eve's blog and I check for posts everyday... love her Lush reviews. They're pretty and she's pretty and she's pretty so yeah x_x... hi Eve! - Check out her awesome blog

  • Sophie for choosing me to design her wonderful book cover.
  • That dude who made the internet.

  • That would be the lovely Lilliana Hill in my opinion. She's so cute, on her way to stardom by already having her youtube. We both like the same thing - fashion illustration.
Who's blog would you like to guest post on?
Who was the first person you ever followed with under 500 followers?
Who was the last person you ever followed with under 500 followers?

  • Lou's Blog at LouleeCutie, I think that her blog posts are really nice and she has a nice bright colour scheme too.
If you could give 1 million follower to any blogger who would it be?
  • Izzy! Because i've grown a nice friendship with her and she deserves it because I know how busy she is, but she still has time to deliver fresh content to her blog almost at least every few days.
Who do you give your small blogger appreciation award to?
  • I'm giving this to... Harriett, because I love her blog and all the beauty remedies on there. I've also done a collaboration post with her before so I know shes nice and friendly!

Makeup Review: Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

Hey guys, so today I'm doing a makeup review! Wow, I hardly ever do this so like lets go! I am reviewing a Maybelline foundation.

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

This product is a liquid foundation and I bought it in December. It comes in all colours and I bought this off a man in a mall with a market stall/stand. The trouble with big brands like Maybelline and Rimmel especially in shops like boots and superdrug is that they don't cater for a lot of black women and finding black makeup in these brands is incredibly hard and when you do it isn't the same price as makeup for lighter shades and I don't really like or understand that. Here are some brands that do lovely makeup for all skin colours:

  • Bobby Brown cosmetics
  • Fashion fair cosmetics
  • MAC cosmetics
Methods of applying the foundation:

1. Applying by hand

Sometimes when I can't find sponges I just squeeze some of the foundation on my hand and then rub it into my face like it's cream. Probably isn't the best way but it's the fast way.

2. Applying with a sponge

Most of the time I use a sponge, any random pound store/primark sponges. I squeeze foundation onto the back of my hand, dab the sponge on it and rub it into my skin, places that I pay particular attention to:
  • Forehead
  • Eyelids
  • Under eyes
  • Cheeks (Have a few spots there)
  • Jaw line (To make sure there is a smooth transition from face to neck and no strange looking foundation lines.
The foundation is worth the money but the only this is I think I paid a lot less from what it is actually worth. I was charged £4 and I thought that was super cheap for a maybelline product! It is quite a good product to me and I was generally surprised it was in my skin colour. The highest price I found on the internet for it was £8.99 but, you have to be cool like me and first by a foundation for £15 and then find a £4 designer one and return the £15 one because that's exactly what happened LOL.

It's a good product in general, when I apply it, it makes me look a little bit lighter than usual. I'd say that's a good thing, not because I want to be light skinned but because makeup is supposed to enhance your features and make you look a little different, so what use is wearing a foundation the exact same colour as your skin... there's not much difference!

Me in the foundation along with some other products!
Thank you guys for reading and be on the look out for my next post coming today: Best Friends <3

Blog update

Hi guys, i'm happy to say that I am recovering slowly, so i'm going to start blogging again. It's so good to be back! I'm just making this short blog update so you guys know whats going on from now on, some good and some bad news x

1. 15,000

Thank you so much for 15,000 views. My blog and my art is my life, I put these before a lot of things that I shouldn't sometimes. To get 15,000 views is absolutely amazing and I actually can't believe it. I know that I post very irregularly and sometimes the post isn't worth the use of your internet so honestly thank you to everyone who's ever read a blog post or even taken a glance. I did a quick thank you drawing in my spare time.

2. Blog routine

I will not always be able to blog and lately has been an example of this, I'm scrapping my blog routine and blogging whenever I want. If you would like to see when new posts are out, subscribe by email or join beau Bloggers or follow me on Twitter @efyalaurenxox.

3. New content

I reviewed my blog and my three main themes are fashion, art and beauty. Art seems to have taken over and I know art doesn't interest some of you so I've decided to start posting some new things.

- A lot more outfit ideas
- A lot more makeup reviews
- more general posts about everyday life.

Thank you guys so much for still reading, it's good to be back. Love you all xxx
